McGhee Elementary teacher Rita Repp helps out Tyler Showers, 5, of Lewiston, as he and classmates learn the alphabet during Twin County United Way's Kindergarten Boot Camp.
With our focus on Community Impact through researching, designing, and implementing strategies to create lasting positive change in our community, we have launched the LC Valley Children's Project. We are so proud to announce the success accomplished through this project. Our mission was to help prepare local children to enter kindergarten. Research indicates that children that have quality early learning opportunities are 49% more likely to graduate from high school. The research also points out that early learning is an investment in reducing juvenile crime, poverty, and more. Because of this reason, we gathered with some of our essential partners & put together 3 main components of the Children's Project. Here are some of the results of our efforts:
Kindergarten Project:
Our focus was to give children an inside look of what school will be like and teaching essential skills to be ready for kindergarten.
Parenting Project:
Our mission was to equip parents of young children with the skills they need to become an engaged, effective family.
Childcare Project:
Our goal was to offer in-home or large childcare facilities and their employees the tools necessary to provide a comprehensive learning environment for the children they serve on a daily basis.

Come LIVE UNITED with us and catch the vision to ensure that every child in the LC Valley is ready to be successful in kindergarten and develop ongoing strategies to keep them ahead of the curve.
