Release: For Immediate Release
Twin County United Way (TCUW) is proud to announce this Friday's Day of Caring with a record number of volunteers (70) registered to show how much they care about our community. This year's Day of Caring is Friday, June 19 from 8 a.m. to Noon beginning with a breakfast for volunteers where they will receive their assignments and then report to their assigned projects.
A Day of Caring is a community mobilization of local volunteers. The goal is to send volunteer teams on meaningful, hands-on community projects to assist local agencies with various needs. It provides community members with a firsthand look at the services provided by local agencies and promotes the spirit of caring throughout the year. Teams will complete projects like painting, yard work, computer works, sorting clothes, folding brochures, cleaning, and more.
Local businesses will send their employees to volunteer for these projects and show how they really do "Live United". Some of the businesses participating include Avista Utilities, ATK CCI/Speer, Cable One, Clearwater Power, CompuNet, Inland Cellular, Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, Lewis Clark State College, Lewiston Rotary Club, Nez Perce County Court Services, Junior Miss Contestants from Asotin County and numerous other caring volunteers.
Project locations include Homes of Hope, Lewis Clark Early Childhood Program, Valley Meals on Wheels, YWCA, Interlink Volunteers, Twin County United Way, Family Promise, Families Together, Quality Behavioral Health, Life Choices Clinic, and Idaho Legal Aid.
Avista Utilities team captain and TCUW board member, Lyn Posey said, "Day of Caring is a way to "pay it forward". This is our opportunity to return the favor to those partner agencies who play a tremendous role in helping the citizens of this Valley. "
TCUW Executive Director, Angie Titus, welcomes any last minute volunteers or project applicants to contact the Twin County United Way office to participate in Day of Caring.
