Subject: New Executive Director
Release: For Immediate Release
Ron Ramos, who has been Executive Director of Family Promise of the Lewis-Clark Valley, Inc., for a little more than two years, has been named Executive Director of the Twin County United Way
Ramos, who begins his new job on Sept. 7, replaces Angie Titus, who resigned after 4½ years at the TCUW helm to become director of community engagement for Community Action Partnership.
Ramos was selected by a search committee composed of members of the Board of Directors for TCUW and the head of one of the 24 non-profit agencies and programs that the organization serves in Nez Perce and Asotin counties. His hiring was then approved by the entire TCUW Board of Directors.
This past campaign year, which ran Sept. 1, 2009 to March 1 2010, TCUW raised more than $690,000 despite the slow economy. That was an increase of nearly $30,000 from the previous year.
The 2011 campaign unofficially has started but the organization will hold its annual kick off events at the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce's Lunch Exchange on Sept. 8 at noon at the Quality Inn and then at the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce's Good Morning Lewiston on Sept. 10 at 6:45 a.m. at the Red Lion.
Family Promise is one of the agencies served by TCUW. Family Promise is part of a national organization that encourages churches in the area to work together to provide positive solutions for homeless families and empower them to become self sufficient and independent.
As the Executive Director of Family Promise, Ramos coordinated and directed the program components, including fundraising, volunteer recruitment and retention, working with other agencies, day care, and transportation to help those families in need.
"We're excited to have Ron on board as we continue our quest to find solutions to the problems and needs in our valley," Bert Sahlberg, President of the TCUW Board of Directors said. "Angie did such a great job for us and the whole community will benefit having her remain in the valley with her new job. This is a great area to live in because of people like Ron and Angie."
Ramos previous worked at Foundation for His Ministry for five years in Baja California, Mexico, and then two years at Valdosta Women's Health Center in Georgia before moving to the valley with his wife, Brooke, in late 2007. Brooke was raised in Lewiston and the couple have two children Alana, age 5, and Abby-Jill age 1.
